Jess Cartner-Morley in The Guardian today is very harsh about flip flops ... which are, of course, the best summer footwear ever created.

I might switch to a new paper in protest.

On the other hand, there's a good feature about Sex and Wagner.

Incidentally, apparently there's a 3,000 year old flippy in The British Museum, which surely makes them one of the most enduring design classics.

Of course I read The Guardian.

If I stopped buying it (or getting it free when I go to Waitrose), their circulation would fall by about 20 per cent!

Hove is where they voted for the Trots. We are Green and Blue.
3000 years old? That's why they're called Jesus boots in our house. Yes, I know that 3000 is way too old, before someone tells me!
Are you sure the article wasn't about the 'totally unelected, flip-flopping, Bullingdon bullies who are currently r̶u̶i̶n̶i̶n̶g̶ running the country?
JJ...flipflops are hopeless ! They don't provide any support to the foot at all
and come off far too easily.

Now Crocs are entirely different ....very comfortable indeed.

sandelors ? ( the name in our house ) 3000 sounds OK to me
we were digging them up made from palm leaf in 1978 - that s not how old they were that was when we were finding them !

see

https://www.britishmuseum.org/pdf/Veldmeijer_c.pdf

The site director and his philosopher brother even wrote a book about: if you pick up an archeological objaaay ( like a sandal ) and draw conclusions about it ( 'this is an old sandal' ), what are you really doing ? ( well the bro was a philosopher ) see

http://www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/archaeology/archaeological-theory-and-methods/archaeological-typology-and-practical-reality-dialectical-approach-artifact-classification-and-sorting

( this is comment about sandals being called Jesus boots )

Crocs? Inherently comedic footwear.
When I was in the RAF flip flops were de riguer when going to and returning from the showers.they kept your feet clean on the way back.
Weren't they invented by the French genius Philipe Fulop?
JJ...but very, very comfortable !
Crocs are ok for gardening.
//Incidentally, apparently there's a 3,000 year old flippy in The British Museum, which surely makes them one of the most enduring design classics.//

blimey it might be the one we dug up -piccy anyone ?

( if you contributed mun mun to the running of an archeological dig then you got a bit of the 'spoils' erm like thrown away sandals.
every objaaay has an accession number and if it is 'ours' the beginning of the accession number is QI -1978- ....)

( this is a comment about accession numbers in current Brit Museum objaaays on display there )

Good photo, Hoppy. That made me smile.
lol Hoppy...perhaps there is a dumb Ozzie swimmer a bit further back down its gullet !
