ive been hearing that certain x-box 360 games , well the new ones coming out can only be played on hd tvs, is it true?

I very much doubt it.

For better visual performance etc, the HDtv will be the best, but as long as youve got a lead running from your Xbox to your tv, you will be able to play the games

nope games can be played in standard definition.you may have heard that newer games wil play in true hd but that is just an aditional option.
