Noisey XBox 360

I just recently bought a 360 thanks to Tracy and i've got to turn the tv up as it's so loud when running, more so when a game is running. Now every review i read about the PS3 says that you cannot hear it running at all. I've read others complain about the noisey 360 too. What is it exactly that causes this? First one to beat Tracy to answer this wins respect :O)

The noise is the fans

The Xbox360 has 3 custom IBM 3.2GHz core processors and a custom ATI graphics processor running at 500MHz,

That much power, needs to be kept cool, so the fans are neccesary

I've been beaten by Jack!! ;o). Yes the 360 is one noisy beast. The disc drive running also increases the noise level. The first time I put a game disc in mine It sounded like it was going to take off!
You will find that after time you won't notice it so much, but then my 360s sound is going via my stereo so it's never really an issue for me.
Also you will find that during some games if the disc isn't being accessed the drive will slow down and go quieter. Looks like Sony have almost got rid of this problem with the PS3 (and also it doesn't have that huge power 'brick' either!)
Did I really convince you to buy a 360? I hope you are enjoying it! ;o)

I actually am, i got project gotham 3 with it, and bought Gears of war at the same time, and since then i've bought F.E.A.R., Viva Pinata and Oblivion, all excellent games. I also think XBox live is an excellent idea, particularly with the downloadable Demos, a few of which look really good.
But i must warn you Tracy, i'm still a playstation fan and will buy a PS3 when it comes out. Edge magazine(You're right, they are right up themselves) have a good supplement on the PS3, you should get it for that alone, particularly as the rest of the mag is ***** ;O)

John, there's nothing wrong with being a Playstaion fan my friend!
And I'd also like to know more about Viva Pinata. It just doesn't look like my type of game, yet I keep reading great things about it so I don't know what to do!

I actually think it is really good, i know what you mean by it doesn't look like your type of game, with the graphics and the like, but what i will say is, it's like an other worldly sims, in that you've got to look after your residents. I don't know if it's cos i'm rubbish and it hasn't all opened up yet but i thought the gaming world would be bigger. It's definitely worth a rental and judge from there whether you like it or not. :O)
