Is there a new game around comparable with the Monkey Island....or Broken Sword series of games which came out in the nineties. My wife like adventure thinking games ..not shoot 'em up games. Looking for ideas for Christmas present. Thanks in advance

You could try 'The Longest Journey 1 & 2' on the PC, failing that 'Big Fish' games deal with a lot of casual games which require some thought such as hidden items games and puzzles.
If anyone else knows of any modern point & click games which have passed by unnoticed then please tell.

I am a point-and-click addict as well.
Try Syberia I and II, Keepsake, Dark Fall (The Journal and Lights Out), Barrow Hill, The Secret Files - Tunguska, Black Mirror, Ankh, Return to Mysterious Island, Jack Keane, Louvre, The Secrets of Da Vinci: The Forbidden Manuscript, AGON: The Mysterious Codex, Scratches.
I make a very special mention of the Nancy Drew series as well. There are 18 games so far, all available from Amazon, and while supposedly aimed at teenage girls (!) and pretty American, they offer a lot of fun for adults too. Most of the puzzles beat me anyway.
All of these are available on Amazon, and a general search for "point and click" turns up loads. Additionally, if you search out any one of these, amazon will suggest others of a similar genre. It really is a very very good site.
