What is the R for in the top right of an R4?

When you turn on the DS with an R4 card in the start up screen at the top right there is an R and when you touch it it toggles between red and green. Is there any significance to the colours?

Yes, when green you can use the soft reset option rather than turning it off and on via the power switch.

How do you do that?

press the 2 buttons on the rear and the 4 on the front, this takes you back to the r4 menu rather than using the power switch all the time

I've tried that and noticed that it doesn't matter whether the R is red or green, the soft reset works both times.
