From your point of view, how can we increase our chances on the lottery game?

If you buy two tickets you'll double your chances of winning. Having said that, The odds will be halved from a zillion to one down to half that. Good luck.

pick numbers that are significant to you and family members: birth day, birth month, birth year, anniversary, age, etc....

Re: johninlongmont - there is no evidence that numbers significant to you would make any difference - it's a random draw so those numbers are not more likely to be drawn than any other.

The only way to increase your chances is to minimise the odds, i.e. cover as many combinations as possible. The total number of combinations available would cost a lot more to put on than you would ever win.

People claim to have come up with systems for predicting patterns in lottery numbers, but every draw is a separate entity and has no relevance to, or memory, of previous draws.

And don't get me started on Derren Brown's "wisdom of crowds" cobblers :-)

As has been said, the only real way is to buy more tickets.

However, a few people I know buy 8 tickets a week with the numbers 1 to 48 on them. This way (as long as 49) doesn't come out, they only have to match 5 numbers instead of 6 for the jackpot. 2 numbers instead of 3 for a tenner and so on.

Having said that, they haven't jetted off to Barbados yet, and so I guess the system doesn't work.

Actually I'd strongly advise you take the opposite to john's advice.

Pick numbers above 31 and consecutive numbers.

The odds of you winning will be the same but the odds of you having to share the prize if you do win will be drastically reduced

I always think that the lottery game always falls on luck, that's why some hit the jackpot prize.
