Earlier I asked advice about the Nintendo Wii but i'm wondering now would it be better to get an X-box or Ps3 instead?

Which has the best selection of games? The ones I like playing are platform/adventure games, shootem ups and spaceship games amongst others.

Right, its like that is it!
My 360 has 120GB memory, more than enough i think and you can also get a 250GB if thats not enough for you.
The original 360's were prone to the red rings of death but the newer Elites etc are far more reilable and far quieter now especially if you save the games to the Hardrive and run them from there and if you have a decent surround sound set-up you wont hear anything but the sound of killing!
Xbox's On-line is far superior to that of the PS3's thats pretty much well documented even by the PS3 faithful.
You can play 4 players on a 360 although why you would want to is beyond me as that would mean sharing a screen split 4 ways unless you want to system link 4 Tv's up . Its better just to get on-line and hook up with your mates that way!
The 360 has far better games especially for serious gamers, Halo being possibly the most famous console game on the planet. The PS3 might have more games (not really sure?) but the 360 has more exclusives.
The controller is rechargeable just the same as the PS3 so then its just down to personal preference
The 360 also has HDMI inputs as well otherwise it wouldnt be HD!
And finally the 360 has a better calibre of gamer!

This certainly isn't true:
"And finally the 360 has a better calibre of gamer!"
At least in the few online matches I've played. Saying that, the only time I've ever actually had a decent chat in a game online was here: http://www.quakelive.com/ (Mainly because they're the same people who were playing quake 10 years ago!)
Also this:
"You can play 4 players on a 360 although why you would want to is beyond me as that would mean sharing a screen split 4 ways"
I think it is a sad sign of today's gamer that gaming isn't social any more.
A few beers and a decent multiplayer game (examples: GoldenEye, MarioKart, TimeSplitters, MicroMachines, StreetFighter, Streets of Rage, etc) is the best way to enjoy games! Unless you're talking about immersive epics (but then, I would got for PC for that).
Spare Ed

I think you are tripping AB Editor!
Split screen gaming is a wee bit out of date now, it was great back in the day but does severly restrict the gaming, maybe as a bit of fun now and then but thats about it. I want the whole screen for myself!
I can still hear them too so it is still social to a degree!
