Edward John (Jack) Butler
I am trying to trace back the line of the above .... but don't think I can with the info I have. I know he married Florence Abbotts (born Florence Hawkins in Jan 1915) in 1947 and I know he had a sister called Dolly (don't know what this is short for - Dorothy??) The marriage was in Walsall, and they lived in Walsall and she (Florence) was born in Walsall ................ can anyone help me trace his parents? I don't have the marriage cert to check if his father is named there ............ any way to trace without getting cert?

There were three births in Walsall 1900 - 1920: an Edward John in 1900, an Edward J in Sep 1916 mother Jukes; and Edward J in 1918 mother Hawley.
Looking for siblings post 1912 gives George A born in Sep 1914 and Dorothy M born in Dec 1925, for the Butler / Jukes combination. Frederick Butler married Sarah Jane Dukes in Dec 1907 in Walsall. Looks promising..

Yes, yes and yes!! Fabulous - this must be then (born 1916 and deid 1980 I mean) Especially as you have found a Dorothy from Fred and Sarah Jane as I know Jack had a sister called Dolly ............. just can't understand why I can't find Frederick and Sarah Jane on the 1911 census .... any ideas Rose?
Fredrick and Sarah were living at 29 Tantarra Street, Walsall. RG14 PN17170 RD370 SD3 ED13 SN32. It was the only Frederick / Sarah combination that came up on the search for Frederick and variants. Married 4 years, they had produced 4 children, all of whom died - how sad! Frederick age 24 ie born 1887, Sarah age 21 ie born 1890, both Walsall. Frederick was a something dresser - can't quite make out what he dressed.
Thanks Rose - you are a star ............... I can't read what he dressed either ............. very sad seeing the children passed away ............. think I am glad theat the census prior to 1911 doesn't tell you this - it would be even more depressing the further we went back I would think. Thanks for your help.
