My mum was born in this pub in 1932 - her father was the publican as far as I can make out. It no longer appears to exist although there are several pubs listed on the High Street. Can anyone tell me what became of this pub or whether it has perhaps been renamed? Her family later moved to the White Horse in Kingston which I understand has been demolished. Can anyone tell me about its last days?? Many thanks.

It's not a very easy area of research to do online as you will need to contact Buckinghamshire archives to enquire about Licebsed Victuallers records of application from the local; magistrates . I think Eton came under Bucks then anyway.
I have looked through the 2 enumeration districts on the 1901 census for Eton to identify pubs that may have been there then and possibly would have been there in 1932. There is one called the Crown and Cushion that is still there at 84 High Street. Anyway, i then went onto Google maps to look at the actual images of the High Street. As it was and is a very narrow street, many of the buildings, all commercial, have large archway entrances, this does tend to suggest a coaching Inn ot hotel. The pubs/licensed vistuallers on the 1901 census are not named except the Crown and Cushion, the addresses are 12, 51, 55, 72, 77,,, 79 98 and 131, only 51 77 and 131 were Licensed Victuelllers though, the rest were Publicans or Beer Sellers. I think that narrows it down actually.
Another source would be the local Trade directories from Pigots, slaters etc, there should be a good list here:
www.historicaldirectories.org

The other useful source would be old OS maps, try:
alangodfreymaps

Or you could try to look at the local Eton paper or better still contact this group:
