funny how they go back and forth,The grandmother Ruth Osborn lived in Scarborough and was a dressmaker, and Ruth Litherland/ Naylor marries and goes to live in Scarborough.
Frank and Harriett married Dec 5th 1874 at Leeds, witnesses harriet scot and edwin moore.
When John and Ruth married Jan 2nd 1843 they were both widowed, Ruth married in her married name of Ruth Guest, her father was John Osborne a farmer, John Litherland's father was George Litherland a nail maker witnesses John Osborne and elizabeth ambler. John;s first marriage was 4th jan 1835 by licence to hannah dodsworth. she was probably under 21,
Ruth's first marriage was to John Guest 25 sept 1837, witnesses william walker and elizabeth osbourne, John Guest was a gas manufacturer and his father was also called john.
So, Frederick John who was born 1840 was probably son of Hannah and she has died in childbirth.

Thanks dotty that clears the Frank/Harriet marriage, another brick in the wall.
I have to turn in now. Thanks craft too, I'm grateful to you both for your help. I'll have another go tomorrow.
There was also a Rebecca Litherland christened along with Walter in 1845.
John and Hannah had a daughter Elizabeth born 4th June 1838. baptised 8th July
me too, night all, got work early doors, people will be queuing for their last editon of NOTW lol
Question Author
At last you have found john's father for me George, I thought it could be Samuel and Jane, another bit of confusion there, I'm a bit stuck going further back. But I do know that George ends up in Leeds in 1881 he is in Kirkgate Leeds.
Frederick George b Leeds in 1835 and died on 23 April 1837 was the son on John and Harriet she had another child daughter Elizabeth b 1837.
So Frederick John must be another one, I hadn't realised that 1840 date was before Ruth married John I took it he was their first child.
Question Author
My posts keep crossing, I briefly noticed a Rebecca but with it being the same date I dismissed it could it be Walters sister?
George had a daughter sarah, she married william dovener in leeds in 1851, she was a widow in the name of sarah hepworth aged 32
George also had a son Thomas that married ann robson at leeds in 1849 aged 22
oh yes and sarah litherland had married william hepworth at leeds in 1837.
was george litherland born in amingtom warwickshire in 1787?
I think George married Mary Capewell in Tamworth (Amington is a chapelry of Tamworth) 10 Sep 1805 and possibly was baptised 22 Aug 1784 at Tamworth the son of George and Mary Litherland (or Leatherland), looks right so far,
Question Author

Question Author
I have two Samuel and Jane (leatherland) marriages. Samuel born? and Jane b1786 and died 1815 she had a daughter Mary Ann b May 1815 and died August 1815. Jane died aged 29 must have been in childbirth in 1815. The second Samuel born ? and Jane was born 1816 they had a daughter diana Jane b 1820 @ St Martin Birmingham, (the same as place as John b 1812. One of these Samuel and Jane were at Birmingham St martin at the christening of John ? b 1810. This was where I wondered if they were my Gf Johns' parents.
