Son on Ruth and John Litherland, I had him down as married in 1874 to Harriet Ann Hill, b 1856 - with two children Ruth b1876 married 1895 to? and Frank.born 1878, d 1901 in Leeds. Frank Snr. suddenly disappears. Harriet is Head in the 1881 census with the children and Moses Rhodes lodger who also works in the shoe trade. She married Moses Rhodes in 1889 in Hunslet Leeds.

On her marriage in 1889, Harriet ann litherland is aged 33 a widow daughter of william hill a fishmonger, Moses's father is also Moses. Their address was argyle place, (they married at leeds st mary) witnesses were william and charlotte broardbent.
Ruth married alfred naylor 17 sept 1895 at leeds st mary's her father frank is given as deceased, witnesses were ada hill and moses rhodes
Hmm I'm lost too. In 1881 Harriet, although being Head of the household is still shown as being married and as nothing was showing on ancestry I've been onto the genealogist and trawled through the actual registers. The only Frank Litherland's death registered between 1881 and 1889 was an infant of 0 years old in 1885.
theor son Frank was born 1878 in Middlesex and so I've looked for a death there but nothing, they were in leeds in 1871 and 1881, wonder what took them to middlesex in the mid 1870s
There's nothing on ancestry, genealogist, or familysearch...........his name must have been registered incorrectly.
hang on, i'm going through the actual images of the gro death index, the Q1 1887 seems to only have 2 oages of the letter H. Could you check MP for that Q please craft?
It's probably a transcription error and so working through the images is the only way. I've done 1885/86 so far, all 8 quarters.
There's nothing on findmypast either.
it's ok i've sussed it, there is a partial transcription and then a full one. I've done 1888 and nothing
sorry dot I don't understand what you mean............I've checked all the actual registers for Litherland for that year, what are you looking for?
I'm looking at the photographed images of each quarter of the GRO death indexes to see if the transcribers had missed an entry for Frank Litherland dying between 1878 and 1889.
I've looked through those already dotty..........that's what you get on thegenealogist, not transcriptions.
It's a funny thing, but if you search on FREEBMD, another death for Jun 1885 Volume 8c Page 539 Chorlton pops up for Frank Litherland - age 24. And yet it's not on the original image...
I think that's the one I had with the age as 0............
Yes Rose that's the one I have, the entry above that is for Lithead, Midjie aged 24.
oh yes I remember doing that on FMP. I've searched the burials for the Leeds area, I don't think he's buried in Yorkshire, still not a clue as to how the son was born in middlesex.

He's a bit of a puzzle I've left him and came back to him time and again, I kept thinking that he shouldn't be there. In fact I thought Harriet was a Litherland by birth, I can't find my source of the marriage to Frank. Thats another little gap filled though about her previous marriage i wouldn't have found that. The middlesex link is odd Franks generation are from Wolverhampton, but my grandfathers generation apart from grandfather all were born in Stepney, Hackney and Bethnal Green before migrating to Yorkshire what the link is I can't find out. Thanks for the time you've taken. I gave up on him earlier. Trying to work out if the more recent family members born 1899 to 1918 can be found online.
What would the parents be called ayg.........I can do a 1911 look-up.
I think this is Ruth in 1911 living at 32/34 Seamer Road, Scarborough
