Which is the best site to find my nearest relatives...
41 Answers
I've had reasonable success with my relatives from 1600/1800 but I am stuck trying to find my fathers' brothers and sisters and their families. I know very little about them. Except that there was nine of them including my father, all deceased now: born between 1899 and 1918.

My side of the family all lived in and around Appleby Magna in Leicestershire from the 1600's. The Gt Gt Grandfather x 10 I think was born somewhere in that area about 1580. My Gt Gt gt Grndfather moved from Tamworth to Leeds in the 1830's. He was a cut nail manufacturer for the boot/shoe making industry. It's fascinating and I would like to visit those places.
Thank you dotty for those names I didn't know who they all were, I've met cousin Hazel. And the oldest cousin Mavis Parkinson daughter of Florence but that is the sum total of them all. I know there is one cousin called Colin married to an Italian lady never met them. I worked at the DVLA for a while, one day we were sitting around a desk sorting some mail out and the girl next to me got out her leave sheet, her maiden name was Litherland, it was such a surprise, she was Colin's daughter.
I remember my father telling me we had a cousin called June who was adopted by another family, but I can't remember who her father was. I think her mother left them and he couldn't cope, she was born about 1939 I think it could have been George but not sure. Never understood why they gave me the same name.
