Phillipson

Only just found this site so may well be joining in as this is all new to me.
My late fathers family were Phillipsons from Carlisle. I have a copy of the 1911 census with the 4 children me grandparents had up tp that time but it doesn't include the family not yet born.
I know from memory my late Grandmother remarried at some time as her surname had changed to Mcnamee by the end of the war, although I have no idea when this happened,,,,,,or what happened to my Grandfather.
I must get down to some serious searching and hope you good people might be able to direct me when I get lost !!
I wonder is there anyone else out there searching the same family?

Oooo you lovely people offering to help me. Thankyouuu.
The copy of the 1911 cencus I have doesn't mentioned marriage?
Grandfather was Joseph Henry Phillipson Grandmother was Jane Williamson. On this cencus they had 4 children. John, Mary Elizabeth, Joseph and Francis.
I know Granny Mac [as we children called her] remarried to someone with the Mcnamee surname. I was born not long before ww2 and my sister a few months into the war so we never knew our Grandparents as we lived a long way off. Our first meeting was as soon as the war ended we travelled overnight by coach to Glasgow where Granny Mac lived. Where or what happened to her new husband I have no idea. I do know there were more children but not who there father was.
I have to dash now to the dentist but will look back later....

Thankyou craft. Peter is my father..I never heard of Albert?
I can now assume the other "children" were from the second marriage. There was Peggy and Arrabella who must have been Mcnamee's. I met them on the family visit to Glasgow, but at 7 years old these things meant nothing.
Facebook. I have been in contact with one cousin and some other cousins children, via FB, but they know nothing of their ancesters. Except that is for the cousin who took some pictures of some gravestone for me.
I am hoping to get up to Carlisle in the summer to meet one or more of these family but its more the past I am interested in.
The Ambrose is someone else looking to research another arm of the newer family.
So do I have to sign up to the Scottish Ancestry site to look for a wedding and deaths of the Mcnamee's
My head spins with so much to put together.
I have looked at other forums to keep in touch with like minded people but they are nowhere near as active as this site.
Thankyou again.

I've tried to get some help on Genes Reunited community site as I thought someone on there may already subscribe to a scottish database. I have been told by someone on there that you cannot buy a subscription but have to buy credits for individual searches.
I'm now trying to remember how I found my grandfathers birth 'cos he was born in Glasgow, unless of course this just refers to marriages.

quick search of Scotsancestry shows no marriage's between 1916-1945 for anyone named Jane Phillipson.
I tried Jane Williamson incase she went back to her maiden name, and nothing came up as married to mcnamee,,,or macnamee. Leaving the male surname blank there's 259 jane williamsons marrying in scotland in those 30 years so thats not the right way to go.

My mind is whizzing now lol. So before I go to sleep I must write this down.
Bearing in mind the ages of the added children i know, and met in Glasgow, I assume they are from the second marriage to Mcnamee. I am thinking did Grandfather Phillipson pass on for whatever reason soon after the known children were born i.e.the last known Phillipson 1915 .
I wonder if registering with Scotlands People might be the way to go to look there for further information.
Does anyone else get so uptight with all this information.....or not information as the case may be and can't cut off to go to sleep.
