My GGrandfather pte John stewart died in southern Iraq and is buried there he died in 1916. I am trying to find where he is buried and what regiment he was in.
I am also trying to find the link between him and my grandmother Ester byers Stewart born in 1906. I also know his name appears on the war memorial in kings park Dalkeith Midlothian Scotland

still not 100% sure that he is the one I am looking for, when my gran was alive no one was ever to talk about him bringing back her bad memories of him. I turn up once at her house when I was teenager with a moustache and all she to me was the next time I come that will be off, my dad said because of her father

Can't make this data agree to any of the CWGC data, however. John Stewart would have been 32/33 in 1916 - rather older than most soldiers in WWI, especially as a coal miner which I would have thought might have been a reserved occupation.
