Another missing person.....

I'm having a tinker with a tree this afternoon because the weather is filthy. Thought I'd have a go at a branch that I know little about.

Alfred's birth was registered in June 1942 in Peterborough. He married Susannah Baker and I've (so far) found 4 children. I've found them both on the 1871 Census. But thereafter, Alfred disappears. I can find his wife Susan/nah (born 1842 in Deeping St James, Lincs) on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 Census where she describes herself as married. By 1911, she describes herself as a widow.

Where did Alfred go and what happened to him? I can't find him on any Census and he is beginning to annoy me. Anyone feeling sharp eyed this afternoon?!

It could be Craft - thank you - I will have to order the certificate. I know he was dead by 1908 when his son got married. Trouble is, where on earth was he between 1871 and 1906?!

Alfred is on the 1881 census with his family but his age is transcribed incorrectly by 10 years....however if you check his occupation it is correct as a Plasterer

No I give in..........can't find him after 1881in any census, can't find him dying before 1906, and can't find him on a ship................

Did he have a brother Herbert? Found him on the 1891 at Dogsthorpe, he's a carter aged 47. still living in Dogsthorpe

His mother was sarah sargent, i'll see if he was with any of his brothers/sisters in 1891, could have been

there was another older brother not on that 1851 record, Thomas I think, ancestry had gone down , probably all the american sunday family historians logging on en mass

I've been doing noth's family history for a bit, I'm never sure when to stop, you know me, once I get going, did you watch the new series with him out of Larkrise? It was very good, loved the way they started off the story, very clever writing.
