Certainly we know a witches covern meet there quite regularly, some of our family who live in the area stumbled on them one evening by mistake, and certainly we knew, by the number of rams skulls, etc., that our landlady had lying about her bungalow, that she was - if nothing else - a firm believer.
Anyway, the hard standing for parking the cars was about 50 yards from the cottage, and being a regular on the moors I can honestly say nothing there has ever frightened me before, but my eldest son and I were so frightened when we parked the car each night, that we ran the fifty yards as if the hounds of hell were after us.
Years later I discovered, too, that both my sons were sly smokers in those days and were popping out to the utility room after dark to have a quick puff, but apparently it was only sheer bluff that kept them out there. They were both so frightened that they didn't enjoy a single draw on their cigarettes!
We've never stayed in that area since, and everywhere else we've stayed I've wandered about in the dark with no problems, but even now, when we visit that place, there is a strange uncomfortable feeling about it. What was more, the night before we were due to leave the place a glass coffee table, placed in the middle of the room and with nothing on it at the time, exploded at about two in the morning and frightened us out of our wits!

I lived in a haunted house for 2 years, and it was terrifying at times. Lights turned on and off, rooms were trashed within seconds of being left, everything electrical went haywire, at night we heard a sound like someone falling down the stairs, chanting noises, hammering on bedroom doors (and if left ajar they would fly open), and lights like someone was walking around with a candle. There was also something which looked like a shadow, but moved independently, and sometimes would come towards or past you; and the hatch into the attic kept opening itself (impossible to be a draught etc as it lifted up and was locked).
My best friend and I are both 'sensitives' - basically we know if something is there, but can't communicate with it - and quite often when we're together strange things happen. One psychic even told us that an evil presence stalked us, and I am inclined to believe it, as we have had lots of very scary experiences with what we both felt was the same entity over the years.
That being said, most 'ghosts' etc are benign; the one we lived with for 2 years was scary at first, but once you get used to it you stop noticing - although not many people ever wanted to stay overnight!

Years ago I lived in a haunted house, I was in my early teens at the time. We (Parents, myself and three brothers) never spoke about our experiences whilst we lived there but once we had moved out it came to light that we all had experienced strange goings on, lights going out etc. My elder brother mentioned a time whilst we were away on holiday (He stayed behind looking after the house) that he was watching TV when suddenly he heard large heavy slow footsteps walking down the stairs, needless to say he shot out of the house and on his return, (with his mate) there was nothing, no sign of anyone else been there, nothing stolen, nothing moved, just nothing. (He got some stick when he first told us about it). A few years after we'd moved out my Mother bumped into a neighbour from over the road, who told her that after we'd all gone out she would often see a dark shadow of a man looking out of the front bedroom window .
She also said that the Lady who'd bought the house had moved out after only three months of been there.
I myself never felt combfortable there, always feeling that something else was there with me, but thought it was just my imagination (like you do) due to horror films etc.. when your young. Until my mother told us what the neighbour had said and the other members of the family shared there stories. Now im convinced there was something there so yes I do believe in strange happenings.
However I do think that most haunted is a bit much to take and Yvette fielding is a drip!

To fairkatrina...
Why didn't you invite a TV station or at least an independant witness to your house while all this was going on? You know there a lot of people who would be very interested in this, some people don't believe in all that you know and would love to see some evidence.
Or wouldn't it have happened that night? Only happens when nobody else is about?

I went through life not believing in ghosts or the paranormal until I slept in the oldest part of a guest house what was a fulling mill hundreds of years ago. The door was locked but I was woken by a distinct impressikon of someone in the room then the sensation of someone sitting on the end of the bed. I sat up but there was nothing to see and when I spoke the presence disappeared. The strange thing is that it didn't feel oppressive and thereafter whatever it was has followed me to many places including Brittany where I lived for a while. It's still there, even in my touring caravan!
I myself never beleived in such things but once when i was 21or 22 i'm 26 now i got into a fight with a boy at uni . The same night me and my mate went out for a chill and boy did i get one , the boy that i got into a fight with had a couple of older brothers who had some rough mates, now they happened to drive past . Where we were walkin there was a park next to us called green head park which went along the road it was massive quite dense with trees, bushes and lots of path ways . we jumped in between bush and a tennis court fence we heard the car reverse up, and the ***** jump out . they looked for us like mad but to our joy didnt find us and oh yeah it was about 12.45 midnight i can remember the time exactly coz they looked around for us for quite some time and i looked at my watch. The boys started to leave so we was still sat in the bush just makin sure every one left when in the distance along the path i saw a figure must been hundred 150 yrds away ,the path ways are lit up by lamps so i looked around thinking the boys are still here. now when i turn round in the space of about 2 or 3 seconds the figure is about 70 yrds away ithought thats quick so started concentrating on what ever it was to describe what i saw it was like some one wearin arab kind of robes but the shoulders wernt movin up and down ,for some one runnin that fast i then thought it could be mosher on skate board all the time thinking in the back of my head it is a ghost but just trying to be rational. When it got less say about 35 yrds away it turned along the path so we could see its side view it had no feet it was just glidin along and a shadow head in whitish robes so the out line was humanoid but was very tall we must have stared at it for a good 20 to 30 seconds as it went across the path , what ever it was and it was not human it didnt know we were there , we ran like mad after it was out of sight so , i got to say seeing is believing
