Has anyone been this year? They usually put on a good show, this year it is supposed to be a traditional English Christmas entitled "Deck the Halls - a visual celebration of carols" We are going tomorrow - looking forward to it...... Last year not so good - it was a Russian Christmas, nice but not to my traditional tastes!

Sounds lovely. I love Chatsworth.
Sounds lovely, hope you have a great time. Here in Dundee we're having Christmas Light Night on Friday when the Christmas tree lights are switched on and there is street entertainment etc. At least this year we're having a "real" Christmas tree once more - have had a plastic one for the past few years despite the many complaints.

Maggie - that's lovely. We usually have a wonderful display but our miserable council are cutting back this year ......... they waste so much on other things though so everyone really annoyed!
Sounds like a familiar story throughout the country - councils trying to economise on some things whilst squandering money on what I consider to be completely unnecessary like the large number of civic receptions for the great and the good.

Well folks we have been today - hour and half drive. Hoped I could tell you it was better than last year but truthfully was a bit disappointed - a fantastic theme this year ("Deck the Halls - a visual celebration of carols") which could have been interpreted much better in my opinion. There could have been more scenes depicting each carol playing in the background - eg Good King Wenceslas, The Holly and the Ivy, We three kings, Little Drummer Boy etc but there were very few carols playing as we walked round and there were just the usual Christmas trees and wreaths, which although they were traditional and nice to look at, were a bit boring and didn't really match the theme of this years theme. At over £12 to go in I thought it was a bit expensive too......
