I have yet to see you back an opinion up on either with any facts, which in my book makes you quite a poor academic, but then I've got a 1st in history and we're required to back up our opinions these days.
But Mike it DOESN'T MATTER that I have a 1st, that was my point, why can't people on here simply have an interesting debate on history without having to pull rank on one another about qualifications that don't even matter. I have been out debated many times by an old fella in the pub who was a farm labourer and had NO qualifications. Do you not find history interesting enough no matter who you are talking to? I was genuinely interested in WHY you think as you do about Richard III before it got all mudslingingish about flaming qualifications.
I think I would have enjoyed that debate about Richard III Nox, I really think he did suffer a bad press.
As for Ollie - a baddie for me, too much of the thou shalt not....have cakes and ale, no Christmas, all in all a cake taker! Not withstanding the fact that he ruined a good few castles around my county, Dunbar, Dirleton and Tantallon for instance
