Mm Links June 2013 Week 5
37 Answers
This is me, Manx Queenie, with the MM links for my fifth and final week, and as stated last week, the main topic will be my anticipated holiday in Cornwall at the end of July.
I used to live in Cornwall, but on returning to the UK after six-odd years in Portugal, found I could no longer afford to live there. Indeed, when looking for somewhere to stay this year, we were offered a holiday cottage for a week at the incredible price of £950, more than double my whole month's pension. Fortunately, we had booked last year through the friend of a friend for a week at St. Ives for all my family - or, rather, my married daughter's family, consisting of her and her husband and five year old, her in-laws and her brother in law with his four year old. These, together with myself and Christiana will more than fill up the three-storey house we shall be occupying. Only time will tell whether we shall all survive.
Hoping to stay on in our much-loved Cornwall for a week after the family holiday, we have been trying to find somewhere else to stay that will cost less than a thousand pounds a week. It seems all our many friends, much of an age to ourselves, have all either downsized recently or have other friends or family eager to avail themselves of a "cheap" holiday by staying with them, and to date all we have been able to afford for our extra days is a somewhat dubious caravan in the middle of a field, miles from anywhere.
The trouble is, it has to be in the school holidays. When Christiana retired as a teacher, we thought we would be able to get away at cheaper times of the year but no, my son in law has recently become a teacher and, of course, my granddaughter is now of school age so we are once again seeking accommodation at the busiest and most expensive time of the year. But I dare say we shall all survive, and I wish all of you, contemplating summer holidays, the very best of weather and enjoyment!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.According to normal practice, for the everyday running of MM, I shall follow this rule on word length, in that each of my pre-selected link words contains at least four letters and at most eight letters. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts!
Each of the selected link words may go in front of, or behind my challenge word to make a new longer word or to make a well-known phrase or saying. The combination will never be a person's name.
The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when gen2 will declare my pre-selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. My set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.
