Has anyone done the tour of the building which the hotel offers? Was it worth the £20 they ask?

I went round inside years ago (for free) before the rebuilding began. It's an attractive building inside and out with an interesting history; but nowhere near £20 attractive and interesting, so I won't be doing it again.

Thanks for your reply, but surely today's guided tour of the fully-restored building would not be the same as what you experienced.
I agree. It's VERY interesting but not worth the rip off £20.
would not be so bad if they threw in a pot of tea & a scone after the tour I suppose but I would not pay that nor would I pay to go up the Chard.
my guess is it hasn't changed much, updated rather than altered. It was a hotel from the start, though it went through a period as offices. I suspect they've returned it to much the way it was.

Perhaps I'm wrong but I won't be paying £20 to find out.
Wander round yourself and have a read of this over a glass of bubbly

In the mean time, I found this on Trip Advisor:

"Do the tour!
We booked this historical tour with Royden for my husband's birthday. Luckily there was just the two of us and we were able to have a great 2 hours walking around this beautiful hotel and learning about the history of the railway and how the hotel came to be... The cost was £20 each and we had a complimentary cup of tea and a cake at the end which was lovely. If you love the railway or architecture then definitely take a look!"

So it seems as though you do get a cup of tea!

As we would be leaving London of the Eurostar, this could be the ideal end to a short break in London. I'm still tempted instead of the steep price. If we do do it, I'll report back (in November).

...in spite of...
£20 for a hotel tour? Haven't been there so if I were to go there with a once in a life time chance I'll probably get the offer. It's my first time to read something about a hotel tour with fees though.
