Thanks for this link, Elina. I scored badly to, just goes to show that sometimes following gut instincts aren't always the right thing to do.
Just out of interest my great uncle was in the 1st South Staffs, he was killed in action 1st day of the Somme ( was awarded the military medal ).

Hi Tony, I know, gives you a tiny idea what those poor men had to think about in that split second 'moment' so to speak. No doubt a lot of 'them' scored badly too tragically.

Tony, do you have an existing photograph of your great uncle?

I do but it's the photo that they used in the local paper of July 1916, it's only an head photo.
