I had mine removed using the open method as my gallbladder had become very inflamed. Was a bit uncomfortable at first, but modern analgesia is very effective and I wouldn't say it was painful.
You will be fine. Surgeons will always explain things to you if you ask, so don't be shy!

Why is this in History?
Quick, safe operation with good results.
If done by a competent surgeon, complications are infrequent, although ANY operation can have complications.
As Obiter say if it is laparoscopic it has a short recovery time........abdominal intervention can prolong the time spent in recovering.

I had mine out (keyhole) 12 years ago.......was bloomin' glad to get rid of it and the pain. Like Obiter I was home the next day and have had NO after effects.
As with all operations, people will experience different effects but I imagine the symptoms you describe are 'unusual' and will hopefully be short-lived.

I had mine out laproscopically just over two years ago, op done and home the same day. Was just glad to get the thing out of me :)
Recovery wasn't too bad at all, was back at work two weeks after the op.
I had bile acid malabsorption before anyway, it's managed similarly to any diarrhoea issues after gallbladder surgery though I understand it's not very common.
I know a quite a few people who have had their gallbladders out and can't think of one of them who has had such a problem since.
If you are reading online, it's going to be mostly people who have an issue, whether or not it's connected, rather than all the people who had a successful operation and recovered fine and didn't have to put up with the awful issues the gallbladder can cause.

I had my Gall Bladder out in 1995 after years of pain and discomfort - I was in one afternoon and out again in two days. A week of work to recover from the discomfort and then I was fine, I had another week of work as a skive because I could get away with it.
I was given the offending Gallstone, it was the size of a small Chickens egg - I've still got it in a drawer somewhere.
I can eat anything with no side effects, after eating red meat I'm a bit 'loose' the next day - if you know what I mean - but it's worth it for the pleasure of eating meat again.
