good question, especially as lions aren't native to England (nor are unicorns, come to that). I think King John had a lion in his zoo once, but that's about it. Compare that with the kangaroo and emu on Australia's arms, or the dead sheep on New Zealand's.
I think a mole and a water rat would be more properly English.
Yes Maggie, and there are 2 subpecies the clocwise haggis and the anticlockwise haggis. the uphill and downhill haggi died out many years ago as one lot died of starvation and frosbite and the others drowned.
