London Before And After Shots ..
I've only ever been to London three times in my life, rich in history, I'd love to have the money to be able to stay down there for a while and soak it all up. I've spent the evening looking on YouTube, found this film, before and after shots of many of London's landmarks. Viewed full page, it's a nice way to spend a little time. Hit the pause button on the half shots!

It's hard to tell, but if you look closely you can see Regent St has been completely rebuilt since then and Buckingham Palace got a whole new facade.
There's an old photo here of Nelson's Column being built in 1844 (no film footage in those days)

From what my late Mum told me, they spent every night down in the Anderson shelter. At the the start of the war, they stayed in their own house whilst awaiting the air raid siren and when it came, they went down to the shelter. After a while they realised that there was no point in trying to sleep in the house because the siren would go off so they routinely went to sleep in the shelter.
