Emmie's thread had me thinking about sayings for when it's really cold.

I can think of a few, are there any you recall? Interesting how people from different geographical areas describe things.

My only clean one is "cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey".

^^ LOL ... Some proper old sayings here, hadn't heard of cod or the braces one. Made me chuckle!

When my dog was alive and in her latter years if I tried to take her out when it was very cold, she would step out of the door, look up at the sky, look at me and seem to say Really? !! Then she would do an about turn and walk back in!
it doesn't show the picture, which is a shame as its really funny....

it was originally freezing the tail off a brass monkey.
i have known the word perishing every since i was a small child, can be used in a number of ways, perisher for a naughty child, perishing, freezing cold weather.
Perishing - Baltic - Brass Monkey Weather to name but a few I use.

Cleo, our pooch used to do similar, also if it was raining - the rain was my fault.

I have been known to say 'it's a bit nipply out there'
