I would like to buy a copy of a picture entitled "The old shepherd's chief mourner " painted in 1837 and currently in storage at the Victoria and Albert Museum.Their shop does not sell it nor does Amazon.Does anyone have any ideas about where I could buy one? Many thanks.

There are dozens of sites offering hand-painted reproductions of the picture but
(a) they're not cheap ; and
(b) you'd have to trust that the artist painting the picture for you could faithfully reproduce it.
If you've got a decent colour printer (or access to one), you could print this image at a reasonable size (preferably using really good quality matt photo paper):

The best copy is unfortunately from the US, so the postage is steep!
