I had a strange experience the other week near Oakham and was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the aforemention question?

I'm originally from Oakham and over the years there have been several sightings of a black puma type 'big cat'. I'm sure the Rutland Mercury or Rutland Times would be interested in your sighting. I'm sure you can find their contact details via the website.

Incidently, what were you doing near Oakham? I haven't been back there since last Xmas but will be flying back this Xmas too! :)

Yep my wife + I have spotted one one the road between Oakham and Corby, also my mother in law claims to haver seen the beast as well

I was taking my dog a walk not far Oakham, in Ketton. I live closer to Leicester but its nice to get away and the countryside around there is always fantastic this time of year. The 'beast' in question was sandy coloured about 4 times the size of your average domestic cat. I spotted it against a hedge at the otherside of the field to myself, it was a fairly small field so I was quite close. Braken, the dog, started to bark and it turned and bolted upwards clearing the hedge, 4feet high, in one bound and disappeared into a large copse behind. It was close to twilight and I didn't fancy persuing.

Hey itsallyellow ... there have been threads about that on here before...I'm from the US, hadn't ever heard of this "big cat" until Abers informed me of what it was...

do some internet surfing and you'll even find photos, plus some other tales of sightings!

they all think that I am bonkers but I saw this light brown massive lion run across the road in front of me during the summer, I kept it quiet, but when someone else in my village said that they had seen a big cat in the bottom field I came up with my tale.It then became apparent that there had been a few more sightings, so perhaps we are all going bonkers.

it had a long curved tail with a black and whit blob on the end of it.it was bigger that a great dane dog.

I live in Church Stowe Northamptonshire, not exactly Leics. though.
