It's just been announced that Prince William had covid at the same time as Prince Charles. With a 94 year old queen that could easily have put us in the position where Prince George would suddenly be King George. Clearly a regent would need to be appointed, but who? Andrew? Edward? Harry?

Anne, I would have thought.

Where is our Meghan ?
Harry ( the spare ) . Why keep the news about William quiet ?
He said he didn't want to alarm people, Anne.
Alarm people, geez he must think he’s a very important person . Alarm would be an elderly relative in a care home/ hospital.
Why would people be alarmed ?
In his world, he is important.
//geez he must think he’s a very important person .//

He is.
None of them and call it a day.
The need for Kings and Queens has had its day now.
//Clearly a regent would need to be appointed, but who? Andrew? Edward? Harry?//
Lord preserve us - would it be the best of a bad bunch? Maybe time for the monarchy to be abolished? They are all full of their own importance and I would be more concerned about a member of my family having covid than I would about any member of the royal family.
His wife and children never got it then? That was lucky.
Anybody would surely Maggie?
Why would anyone be concerned if he had told the public .How many people would have sleepless nights of worry.
Naomi ? ;-)
A question mark and a wink, anneasquith? What does that mean?
//The need for Kings and Queens has had its day now.//

that would require a serious change in the law. how many parties with a realistic chance of being elected currently have republicanism in their manifesto?
I winked ? Surely an error .

George the First was always reckoned
Vile, but viler George the Second;
And what mortal ever heard
Any good of George the Third?
When from Earth the Fourth descended
God be praised! The Georges ended!

The story
The observant reader will deduce that this was written sometime before the accession of George V, never mind George VI. By the way, that’s not a typo in the fifth line – the word is indeed “descended”, as in going downwards after death.
Perhaps not that easily, given none of them were that ill
