And they do know how to entertain the bait; honey traps, Obama's hotel bed, free Russian hostesses, and loads and loads of money - poor lad was out of his depth.
I don't think that it will come as news to anyone that the way to get Trump 'on board to a message', whether that be in business deals or in politics, was/is to flatter him.
Gullibility all too frequently goes hand in glove with narcissism.
Trumps first foreign speech was in Poland
and was like de Gaulle to the pieds noirs - - "je vous ai compris"
the Poles compreed toot sweet - trump was gonna give them back to Russia.....eerie it was - - Trump paused for wild adulatory applause and the crowd just chanted Poland! Poland!
Probably the biggest tool of the Russians(in the UK,anyway) was a certain Jeremy Corbyn and his "adviser and controller",a certain Stalinist by the name of Seamus Milne.Trump and Corbyn,eh.Putin must have had wet dreams thinking about both these agents in the west.
A lot of this isn’t new.
It’s telling that Shvets, like most I’m sure, was incredulous about Trump and astounded that he actually came to power. But we live in strange times. Who would believe someone like Marjorie Taylor Greene would be a US House Representative AND a committee member. Someone who thinks the California fires were Jewish sabotage from space? Crazy time.
I’ve always thought Trump was a useful idiot rather than anything more sinister. His curious feather bedding of Putin seemed likely to be not even signs of blackmail but of a vague fear that these people might reveal stuff he’d not rather not have revealed.
We just have to hope nothing like him happens to America again.
“ And that Brexit was a Putin project with Boris Johnson as his nodding dog will come as no surprise. ”
Where does it say that?
Johnson was Cumnings’s (initially reluctant) “nodding dog” that’s all.
Anything else is just silly. You’re crediting the Kremlin with a grasp of UK affairs it simply does not possess.
Jump on anything that might cause division and uncertainty and exploit it - that’s their way. Brexit aspirations, like Trump, was just a happy accident. An opportunity.
"You’re crediting the Kremlin with a grasp of UK affairs it simply does not possess."
Have you been living in a teapot? Even this government acknowledges that the Russians interfered with the Scottish Referendum. Interference in subsequent votes, referendums and elections remain hidden, by ......this government..... Putin wanted to destabilise Europe and needed a floppy nodding useless dog.
There's no need to be rude.
What I am explaining to you is that these things are not Kremlin "projects"
They'd like to exploit things like aspirations for Brexit, Scottish independence, and so on.
