German TV critical of the Queen for not apologising for colonialism and the "attrocities" that went with it. That really does take the biscuit doesn't it? How do Germans think they have the right to criticise anyone about human rights? With their recent record? It must be a wind up, but no, look here:

All very silly of course but - Germany’s “recent human rights record”??

Which TV station was it?
er it is all to do with their own WW II heritage which involves saying what the Nazis did was wrong - and they are tray sorry.

we have more the idea - "if my father did wrong, have a word with him about it " ( my dear papa at the time of the Eichmann trial 1962).

(coonnected with blood guilt, about the jews being punished 1200 AD for the death of Christ) - and then, for killing and eating the Child martyrs ( Little St Hugh of Lincoln and a few others)
Note to mods: this is an ironic reference. i dont REALLY believe that....

I would have thought WW2 was recent enough, seeing as they are talking about 300 years of colonialism.
A non story and more of a publicity piece for Sasha Lobo.
It was brief opinion from one guest commentator, not an attack on our Royals by the German state.

It wasn't just on that one Gromit, there were other websites covering it. I just picked that one. Could have a picked any other carrying the same gubbins.
It's just one person's opinion so doubt it matters much.
Germany had colonies in Africa and China, from the 1880s to the first world war. It's not that Germany disapproved of the concept.
Ich

Hart, aber fair, on Das Erste.
A panel show with several guests, Lobo was just one of them.
a good time for the wisdom of Blackadder methinks......

“ I would have thought WW2 was recent enough, seeing as they are talking about 300 years of colonialism.”

Hmm.
Was this the German government does speaking or some “pink Mohican” with a grudge.
Not sure it’s worth getting worked up about
No one owes an apology. Societies at the time did what was considered right at that time, no one around now had anything to do with it. Besides, one doesn't apologise for being better at something than others; and providing structure to much of the world's societies is no bad thing in itself anyway. These accusations/demands are all a load of nonsense.
Great clip Tora.

The Germans envied our Empire, even Hitler. Which probably explains where Sasha Lobo is coming from.

Thanks
Ok so bloke gives opinion on German tv.
It’s called free speech. Where we can all make fools of ourselves :-)
It's not the Germans or even German TV per se. It's just some attention seeking weirdo shooting his trap off.
Maybe because they've apologised for their own past instead of just pretending it didn't happen?
We have nothing to apologise for the chair.
Indeed, OG. Spot on there! That's why we here play and sing God Bless England by The Clancy Brothers. ;-)
//Maybe because they've apologised for their own past instead of just pretending it didn't happen?//

Who in the UK is pretending that colonialism and the Empire did not happen?
why is "atrocities" in quote marks? Do you not believe that the British empire committed atrocities?
if the british had nothing to apologise for then how do you explain Operation Legacy?
