i remember the day well ,i was 36 weeks pregnant and walking down Gibraltar high street and all the shops were blaring out Elvis songs .

I was camping in the Isle of Wight.

the first i heard about his death was when i was waiting at a bus stop to go home after work, a workmate was wearing a black armband, so i when i asked him why he was wearing it, he kind of gladly explained why, i suppose because most boys of our age werent all that interested!! back then!

I heard about it on my way to school on the first day of term. I was going into my third year of secondary school.

What I always remember about the death of Elvis is the death of Marc Bolan, he died a month later in a car crash but what was spooky was that shortly after Elvis died MB went on a chat show, parky I think, and said something like he'd hate to go now because in all the Elvis grieving etc no one would give him a second thought. He was wrong. The tree he hit is still a shrine and to this day people put flowers by it.
