Is Australia holding another referendum?

Nope, no appetite for it, apparently.

Shorthand for we know we'll lose so we ain't having one.

Actually it was a cruise ship of that name, not HMS QE.

🤣

I believe HMS Queen Elizabeth (the aircraft carrier) is moored in Devonport at the moment, having come down from Rosyth in July after spending four months in dry dock.

probably not that much different in military effectiveness....

QE the  aircraft  carrier - propeller problems

or in AB speak ( I must not use long words) the rounder-rounder doesnt er go round

I don't think the aircraft carrier is capable of sailing that far

Charles spent years schmoozing the colonies before acceding to the throne. He knew he would be the king of the UK but the rest of the Commonwealth could easily decide not to follow suit.

what monarchial influence has been lost?

None of the state Premiers will be meeting their King during the visit so that suggests he's lost some monarchical influence with them at least.

Colonialists, hmm, who would have thunk us stroppy people could have devised such a distraction TTT 🤔

Only a monarchist, maybe?

Dame Edna is a republican, why doesn't that surprise me?

Because a pretend person, fake persona surprises you?

Guess you believe Santa and Crocodile Dundee are real people too, not to mention the Tooth Fairy🤔

for any possibility of "Republic" in the UK seeing an elected head of state in their lifetime, all 14 commonwealth realms need to themselves have become republics, as the legal processes required to align the remaining sovereign nations would be too difficult (UK couldn't bin the king without their agreement, or collusion). it was thought this would happen naturally as the collective memory of George VI faded, but that hasn't happened...... yet.

1OZZY, do you have any objections to your being referred to as, "Dame Edna"?

A make believe character?

Would you object to being referred to as Eddie Booth, Alf Garnett or any other obnoxious English racist make believe character that doesn't really represent who you are thecorbyloon?

Asking for a friend coz I really don't care

MUSHROOM, the UK monarch is also the monarch of  various other countries but the monarch in each of those countries reigns as the monarch of that country, separate from the UK monarch.

That means, in theory but not likely, the UK could become a republic and the other countries could retain the former UK monarch as their monarch.

10:41 so skippy is ok with it! right oh!
