Wasn't' sure where to post this so here it is.
I eat pork but i have recently gone off it. Muslims do not eat pork because they beleive it is bad for humans. The Quran and Bible say it should not be eaten and it is known as the 'devils food'.
Just interested to know what people think. Is it really bad?

It all depends on your religion. Some feel that Old Testament with all its sacrifices which represented the 'coming of Christ'. The new testament - Christ had arrived in the form of man and is now in Heaven. Thus sacrifices were not carried out anymore. The same applies to other rules that were enforced in the old testament. But if you are Jewish or Muslim, who dont believe the New Testament because Jesus has not 'arrived' yet, the Old Testament rules still apply to them.
I will look for the scriptures in the New Testament where it states that certain things that were carried out before Jesus, need not be carried out anymore. And no, I am not a bible basher - but I did get 'A' level in R.E.
It's from Leviticus Ch.11, V.5 mdoo98, the Bible says that eating rock badgers* is out, as like shellfish, they are unclean too. (*Sometimes referred to as a coney from the Syrian name, not to be confused with coney, meaning rabbit - geddit? All clear?.)
Similarly, Leviticus Ch.18 says menstruating women are unclean, and so is everything they touch - so it is best to avoid all contact with them whatsoever during this time. That means sex is definately out, too, before you ask.
(And before you disappear into the bathroom, be careful not to spill your seed on yourself, your clothes or anyone else for that matter.)
Hi fender62, I don't think so. Among Moslem friends I have there is not one that would knowingly eat pork. They do often consume alcohol and, sometimes, even over indulge. But, never, never, eat pork. In fact those Moslems who may have non-Moslem friends or are expected to entertain non-moslems often go the extent of having two kitchens, one for halal foods and preparation, the other (often called 'the dirty kitchen') for preparation of non-halal foods. This is equipped with its own utensils and these are never taken from one kitchen to the other.
This can cause some problems in tourist places, in Fiji for example, where you may have Hindu staff who would not prepare beef products and Moslems who would not touch pork. Such establishments also may have separate halal and non-halal kitchens.
In my general experience, the consuming of pork is very offensive to most Moslems, for whatever reasons. I have no problem with that.
At least I lead a life, plonker, I don't follow. Weird or otherwise....
....still, remember what I said - it's a great one for throwing back at those Christians preaching as they accost you in the town centre on a Saturday afternoon....
(female) Christian- "You are all sinners, come to God etc..."
Brachiopod; "Excuse me, are you menstruating?"
For male preachers, just ask if they eat rock badgers, and if not, why not.
(Sorry for any gender bias, but that is not my fault.)
