This is sort of history and television categories but mainly history...I saw the drama on television this weekend about Mary Bryant's epic struggle in the 18th century - her crime, transportation, daring escape, recapture and ultimately freedom granted by the court to return back to her village in Cornwall . I was hoping at the end of the film they would say what became of her after she was granted her freedom. Having lost her husband & two children during the journey home, did she ever re-marry or have more children. It seems such a wretched life, I hope she found happiness in the end somehow. Does anyone know what became of her.

It was not a true story, it was based on events that happened at that time, not on specific people.
Actually, it was based on a true story, www.geocities.com/eschiva/bryant.html

If the link above is still not working......

When she got back, there was a lot of sympathy for her from the general public and her case was championed by James Boswell (Samuel Johnson's friend) - which strangely was never referred to in the film.

When she was freed, Boswell gave her a pension of 10 per annum and she went back to Cornwall where little was heard of her again....

I have read that she remarried although it isn't mentioned whether she had any more children. I am sure she figures in someone's family tree with Cornish ancestry. It's amazing to think how Australian settlers have flourished in a couple of hundred years. It certainly wasn't an easy environment to set up home. Thank you for all your answers.
