Were tarrifs on foriegn goods one of the causes of the great depression?

There was a world slump but Germany was particularly hard hit because of it's heavy dependence on international credit especialkly from the US.


Britain was comparitively less hit as the boom of the 1920's had not been as beneficial to British industry and so they felt the slump less.
