my boyfriend was christened on the HMS Londonderry in 1979 as his father was a sailor..my boyfriend said his mum told him everyone that was chrisened this way had the date and their name engraved on the ships bell.
he has recently become interested in this and had found out the ship was used as a target in 1988 and sunk. would the bell have gone down too or would it be elsewhere? i have googled till the cows come home (they never did) . hope someone can help! x x

the names are engraved on the ships bell, where the bell is now held is a different matter, theres a museum in the dockyard at portsmouth, they might be able to help
