We are having a bit of a discussion. We seem to remember than on QI a few months ago it was said that Delilah did not actually cut Samsons hair herself, that it was a slave boy of some description. Does anyone know the answer?

Delilah made Samson "sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head." So, it seems poor Delilah has received a good deal of bad press she didn't deserve.
Ethel is totally correct, if you want the full story, have a look at this. http://www.keyway.ca/htm2002/samdel.htm
I can't quite see why she "didn't deserve" the bad press, Ethel. After all, she lulled the poor victim to sleep and betrayed him. The fact that she 'caused' someone else to do the actual shearing hardly renders her innocent, surely! If you were to drug a man and then persuade a third person to stab him to death, I think you can rest assured you'd be charged jointly with murder.
... Delilah was an awful squawk at http://tinyurl.com/z5brx ...
The story is a warning to all young virile men. Beware of the trap some women set in totally captivating your heart, submerging your critical faculties and intelligence and before you know it stripping you of any real power.

Don't forget that later in the story Samson is blinded so as to be even less able to see the his predicament clearly or finding a way out.

Delilah remains a powerful symbol of female honeypot deception and male emasculation.
