apart from CSI and all that - there was a theory that JtR was or left for America as a number of very similar killings took place over there just after the ones in london stopped. There was a book on it a few years ago - can't be much more vague than that. As for the royal family business that's nonsense but the conspiracy nuts love it. You probably have this already
