I wasn't going to answer this as I thought it was a daft question motivated by either flippancy or media induced paranoia but I'm intrigued by Corby's answer.

Are you saying, Corby, that as there are so many non-religious people in this country there may end up being more Muslims than anyone else who has a religion and 'they' may therefore turn us into an annexe, or that it doesn't matter anyway as no religion of any kind will affect this country (ever again)?

I think that if i didn't use this site i really wouldn't be able to guage the feelings of people around the country on the situation , i get alot of people at work making rash panic statemenst and i wonder sometimes if it is because they are just ordinary people who don;t bother reading the broardsheeets and just repeat what they hear, i think this is what ios going on, and it is getting worse. the jokes doing the rounds don;t help, but whilst people may be not be willing to accept the changes, however it is made, this country is now a huge melting pot,

We already have senior Police Officers asking for the right to arrest people without charge and hold them for as long as they see fit without charge or access to legal representation as if this was some sort of Banana Republic.

We already have police shooting people by mistake and then lying about padded jackets and jumping barriers to get themselves of the hook.

This sort of crude attempt to whip up fear and xenophobia plays totally into their hands and it certainly scares me.

NiceCupOfTea.the last Census figures for 2001 showed there were just under 1.6 million Muslims in Great Britain compared to just under 8.6 million wi no religion (and 41 million Christians.)

I do not understand why folk feel threatened by Muslims and why they fear it will become the majority religion.
