BOO, you deserve more than 3 stars. I've spent hours trying to find the answer to this. For a Smartie point, can I be cheeky and ask if you know which settlement stands at the intersection of Ermine Street and the Fosse Way? Something in my dim and distance tells me that it's Lincoln, but I'm not sure.
And for 2 Smartie points, this has already been answered very kindly, but on reflection, I' don't think that Leonardo da Vinci was a physician. The question asks, What was the surname of the 16th century anatomist and physician who published his "Observations on Anatomy! in 1561.
If you are able to help. I can go and open the red wine!!
The anatomist seems to be Gabriele Falloppio (of fallopian tubes fame!) http://www.bookrags.com/Gabriele_Falloppio
The Fosse Way joins Ermine Street in Lincoln

JK2 You get the whole tube of Smarties!! Thank you so much for your help....that Observations on Anatomy has had me totally and utterly foxed. I shall now go and open that wine. Cheers, and thank you again..
In 1971 John Prebble wrote a superb book calledThe Lion in the North about the kings of Scotland.

It gives the real lowdown on all the kings including the truth about Macbeth, Malcplm and Donalbain and the rest. A very lively bunch.
