i have been told that when charles the first was beheaded a piece of collar bone waschipped of and flew into the crowd many years later it was found and returned to the royal family who replaced it back in tn his tomb has anyone heard this of this tale before thanks

I know that a royal in the past (can't remember which one off hand) had a few lower lumbar bits removed (once he snuffed it) and made into a cruet set which Q. Vicky was not amused at and demanded their return....this sort of ties in with your story.

If you think about it, the chance of a piece of collar bone being hit by the axe during an execution is highly unlikely, even less the chance of it being found and returned, so it's probably an apocrifal (sp?) take built on the circumstances outlined in my colleague's previous explanation.
