as fast as their little legs would carry them. its a bit of a nonsensical question really.
Maybe this helps as a contemporary comparison: in 1066 King Harold's Saxon army force-marched from Stamford Bridge (Yorkshire) to Hastings (Sussex) - about 225 miles as the crow flies - to battle the Normans. The march apparently took 9 days, so they managed something like 25 miles/day (at least). Might be a fair assumption that the Normans could match that?
