I have been to the doctors today to change my pill. The doc said I should take the new pill today as it is my first day of my period, but in the booklet that comes with the pil, it says I should have my seven free pill days and then take the pill.

Anyone suggest which one I should go for?

Go with what the doctor says.

Wait until you are at the end of your current packet and instead of having a 7 day break start taking your new pills. It should explain this in the booklet you get with the pill if your doctor didn't explain properly.
