Can anyone give me any info on a Brass, I think, Medal, (although it could have been used on a wartime cap, but is the size of a medal) "Garland" which surrounds a globe of the world, with the words Africa, Europe, Asia, Aus. marked on the globe. Above the Globe is a crown and above this is a Lion perched on the Crown? My father was in the Second world war if this is any help, as it was his.
My Husband was a Royal Marine and it is definately a Royal Marine cap badge .The Royal Marine insignia is "The Globe and Laurel."As it is a 2nd World War badge the crown will be a Kings Crown, nowadays it is a Queens crown on the badge. The American Marines have the same badge but the other side of the Globe is on it.
My Husband says that there are a lot of them around and therefore not valuable. You might get 5 to 10 from a medal dealer. He was in the Marines in the 50's and 60's and has collected a few medals from Medal Fairs himself and has a badge like yours .
If you have Family it might be nice to pass it on to the next generation to treasure.
