Has there ever been a time when there was no war in the world (including civil wars)? Don't need to know for an essay or a comp - just curious.

Yes, don't know facts, it's just a bit of trivia I hung on to from somewhere. In the recorded history of the world, which goes before the Christian calendar started of course, it amounts to about 300 years war free.

like I said, don't know facts, just what I read.
Sounds like "Pax Romana". Although there were undoubtedly wars or other strife outside of the Empire, beginning with the accession of Augustus in 27 BC, this era in Roman history lasted until 180 AD and the death of Marcus Aurelius. Since the Empire was considerd the "world" at the time and the internal empire was free from major invasion, piracy or social disorder on any grand scale it was nearly 200 years of civil order.
Post dog you had the warring states period in China at around that time.
There were two years during the reign of Queen Victoria were we were not at war, given that we were the superpower of the day there may a week or two without any wars being waged.
You need to bear in mind that we are still at war with the Maoris and the two Koreas are also still at war.
Well Lucca did say including civil wars and there was 69 AD during the period Clanad mentions
which had 4 emperors and a civil war.

This is also a rather Euro-centric view of world history - there was a lot of fighting between the Chinese and the Steppe dwelling Huns

Well I know nothing except where I remembered it from. About ten years ago or a little longer when PC's were newish, they included huge software bundles in the package, and one of the encylopaedias said that.
when was the American war of Independence again? and who fought who???
according to george c kohn's "dictionary of wars," from roughly 2925 bc to now, an unbroken period of hostility between one group of people and another has existed. prior to that it seems largely undocumented or is a source of disagreement between various scholrs, but there are archaeological remains suggested to be of battels going back as far as 12,000 bc

Almost a valid addenda to my OP steve, but most of the British Army of the day was 3000+ miles away. The Navy was also engaged elsewhere.

18th century Britain was quiet? We started the century with the War of the Spanish Succession, also had the War of Jenkins Ear, the War of the Austrian Succession, the American War of Independence, 3 Jacobite rebellions (including some of the last battles on British soil), the Battle of the Nile, I think there was some trouble in India, and also the French Revolution impacted on Britain - so not really a quiet century at all.

I don't think that there has ever been a time when there has been no war in the world - active or cold war - if it seems as there has been a time, it probably just means historical records have been lost!
