The area to the east of the Black Sea where present day Georgia lies has been called Caucasus from the mountain range running diagonally from north-west to south east to the north of this region. Although this name is still used today it was in use in Alexander the Great's time (330 BC), was part of the latter Persian Empire (500 BC) called Bithynia, and prior to that was part of the northern reach of the Hittite empire when it was called Urartu (about 2500 BC).

Error 1 in GetNextQuestionByNavigationTypeError 1 in GetNextQuestionByNavigationType
