Well he wouldn't have risen again to show us that death is not the end.

Christianity as we know it would not exist.
I am not a Christian, but i understand that the concept of Christ's life on earth was that he was to die for his sins - and such it was decided in advance and his life and death were mapped out by God. By sacrificing his Son to show Man the way of sin and salvation. God demonstrtaed his love for man, and showed him the way to reach eternal life.

Maybe he didn't die on the cross.

It is essential to modern Christianity, however, that he did. The possibility that JC did not die on the cross will therefore always be hotly denied by Christians.
