If you look at the tea caddies on sale on the Antiques Roadshow, tea was valuable when it first came here - rich people locked it up in the caddies so the staff couldn't steal it.

Fashionable RoaldoM....I know coffee houses started springing up in London during the late 17th Century, but yes i mean fashionable.
