My toilet bowl has become stained. usually Domestos and a brush do the trick but not this time. Can anyone recommend another product which may be more effective?

OG, I have never once thought of putting limescale prevention tablets in my cistern, although I used them in the washing machine all the time. Does it work? here on the North Downs the water is desperately limescaley from the chalk.
Just be careful not to mix Harpic with bleach Mike - it creates chlorine gas and is very dangerous. My dad did this years ago and nearly killed himself!
Karen - good advice - could tell lots of stories but won't
On a similar note, is Vim still in the shops?
Arti - just for you :)

I see you hippyhoppy & like you I llove my grot buster
Dunno if it has been said, but try a bottle of cheap cola left overnight. I'm not winding you up either!
Yes I said that postdog but was ignored as usual. Boo hoo:-(
Thanks, Karen. It doesn't seem the same without the holey metal top that used to get a bit rusty.
I wasn't gonna read all the answers ladybirder so I didn't know. For the price of cola it's worth a shot, and having seen what it did to my toilet, I stopped drinking it!
My thoughts exactly postdog.
Thanks granny grump.. getting a tad paranoid that I'm being over looked on a permanent basis... (and I love my grot buster..) ;-)
sand blasting ?
I find that the water in the toilet bowl makes a good substitute for cheap cola.
Can you tell the difference Arti? ;)
Mike is it sparkling now?
Harpic Lipescale remover is really good!................much better than using bleach!..........should work, leave it to soak in for a few hours if possible!...........
I'm going to try all that and see which one is best. And as far as I am concerned that's the one that gives the least work.
I use a limescale remover every so often, and the pan is bring and clean. I never use bleach anywhere in the house (can't bare the smell or the toxidity of it) and certainly never use anything that involves scrubbing!
Coca-cola is a good toilet and wash-basin waste pipe cleaner. I have tried it on a bathroom waste pipe that was partly bunged up, and there was a definite improvement. Have a look at this website:
