buildersmate are you around ?? wonder if you can advise on a small downstairs
toilet and fitting a washing machine. My daughter has a town house and downstairs is the garage and small clockroom. It just has a toilet and basin. She has not got room in her kitchen upstairs for her dishwasher so wants to put her washing machine put downstairs in the clockroom. She has three other toilets so doesnt need it. Would you know how it would be possible to plumb the washing machine in there? many thanks

Just cut the pipes ( hot & cold ) and pt a couple of those compression fittings in, the ones with the little Red on one and Blue on the other on and off taps and then connect the water feed pipes ( the ones that come with the washing machine ) to them. It would be quite easy to do.
Easiest way would be to leave the basin in place. Do what Tony has said and connect into the cold feed to the basin tap.......... for DIY (you CAN do it yourself) ............. this is good, and can stay in place when she leaves........

Take out the WC suite ............ better still ........... take out the pan but leave the cistern in place. This all depends on how much room you have.
Put a bung in the place where the WC connects (big 4" hole) ...........

Cut the white plastic waste pipe after it leaves the basin, and put in "T" branch and one of these..............

You'll have to put a reducer between the machine trap and the "T" because your basin waste is 32mm and your trap will be 40mm...........
